AP CAPSTONE
Judge Memorial is also proud to offer AP Capstone™, a College Board program that equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges and universities.
A strong, flexible alternative to the IB program, Capstone cultivates curious, independent, and collaborative scholars and prepares them to make logical, evidence-based decisions.
Instead of teaching specific subject knowledge, the innovative, diploma program centers around AP Seminar and AP Research, which use an interdisciplinary approach to develop the critical thinking, time management, and presentation skills students need for college-level work. Capstone is designed to enhance college readiness and complement Judge’s 20-plus advanced placement courses.
Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of their choosing receive the AP Capstone Diploma™. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research but not on four additional AP Exams receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™.
What Makes the Difference
The program allows for a healthy life balance. Judge students can also choose to compete in athletics and engage in activities ranging from robotics to clubs to the arts.
AP Capstone has a high completion rate compared to other college preparatory programs.
AP is flexible. Students are able to tailor their experience and pursue a variety of academic interests.
Physics, Spanish and Art had a course pass rate of 100 percent.
AP Capstone sets students up for success and scholarship dollars. Colleges are looking for well-rounded applicants who excel in multiple areas.
