CHRISTIAN SERVICE PROGRAM

In forming students through “cura personalis,” or care for the whole person, the Christian Service Program exposes students to living out the tenets of Catholic social teaching, rooted in the person of Christ, through service to and solidarity with others.

“How marvelous it would be if … each of us could say: Today I have performed an act of charity towards others!”

— POPE FRANCIS

SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

Reach out with questions about service requirements, or to share an opportunity.

Students of Judge Memorial will complete at least 100 hours of service by the time they graduate. Specific amounts and types of service are expected for each grade level. Students have the opportunity to complete 5 hours each fall through our school-wide Christ the King Service Day, for 20 hours total over their 4 years.

We love to see Judge students making a difference to their community and being empowered by realizing that they can make a difference. Thank you for supporting them and the service they do. Their active presence brings hope to those around them and to the Judge community.

Freshmen

20 hours of service for friends, family, neighbors or community (5 may be completed on Christ the King Service Day)

Sophomores

20 hours of service for faith or school community or a nonprofit organization (5 may be completed on Christ the King Service Day)

Juniors & Seniors

60 hours of service must be completed by the end of first semester of senior year. A minimum of 40 of these hours must be completed through one, pre-approved nonprofit organization working in direct service with a marginalized population. Ten hours may be completed through Christ the King Service Day during junior and senior years. An additional 10 may be completed through their school, faith community or community nonprofit organization.

PRESIDENTIAL
SERVICE AWARD

Judge Memorial participates in the President’s Volunteer Service Award program as a Certifying Organization. This award is a presidential honor that recognizes the valuable contributions of volunteers nationwide who are answering the call to serve others through their current volunteer activities or lifetime service.

As a Certifying Organization, we will identify eligible recipients, verify their service hours, and distribute the Award to outstanding volunteers.
