Celebrating our Alumnae for Women’s History Month

We are pleased to honor some of the amazing women from Judge Memorial and St. Mary of the Wasatch who have made significant contributions to our communities. We are grateful for all the women who continue to strengthen our Judge community and enrich our lives.

Mary Judge, along with her deceased husband John, was the benefactor of the Judge Mercy Hospital, which was established for the population of Catholic coal miners working in Park City who suffered from Black Lung. As the need for a hospital dedicated to this cause subsided, she expressed her wishes to the bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake to reopen the medical facility as a school. Mary Judge passed away before the diocese opened the doors of the new school in 1921.

Sisters of the Holy Cross originally ran Judge Memorial and then St. Mary of the Wasatch Academy. Indeed, we are who we are because of the beloved Holy Cross Sisters.

Emma Anselmo ’27 was the first female student leader elected at Judge Memorial.

Marta Sutton Weeks-Wulf ’47 St. Mary of the Wasatch was never one to follow the pack. Among other things, she returned to the classroom as a student after a 40-year absence to pursue her dream of becoming an Episcopal priest. When she graduated from seminary school, she became one of the earliest women priests to serve in the Anglican church in 1990.

Clara Fuoco Brennan ’52 has maintained a close relationship with Judge for over 68 years. She married her high school sweetheart Paul Brennan ’52 and was a nurse for over 40 years.  Clara recently stated that “Judge Memorial gave her a foundation that has grounded her life, in education, service and faith." She also says she is always proud of her association with Judge and grateful for every moment.  Clara is a proud parent of five Judge alums children and seven Judge alum grandchildren.

Sister Mary Leo Anthony was one of the first female principals at Judge Memorial in 1956.

Judith Eagan ’61 graduated from Holy Cross School of nursing in 1964. She was a perioperative (surgical) nurse in the hospital setting from 1964 until 1994. She then joined Valleylab and taught patient safety in the operating room to surgical staff including surgeons, nurses and anesthesiologists. She retired in 2007.

Rebecca Dean Duberow ’68 St. Mary of the Wasatch, an alumna, past faculty, past parent and grandmother to current Judge students – Becky’s dedication and generosity has continued throughout the years at Judge Memorial whether it is serving on various committees, board positions, or just a helping hand.  Her dedication continues to make a difference to Judge Memorial and our students.  Becky is well known in the community and has been a realtor for over 40 years which has helped to form relationships that have positively influenced Judge Memorial.

Mary Schubach McCarthey ’69 St. Mary of the Wasatch is an alumna, past parent, philanthropist and volunteer.  Mary champions many causes and is well known throughout the community for her dedication and generosity.  She has served on various committees and board positions at Judge Memorial.  Mary has truly continued to make a difference not only at Judge Memorial but throughout the community.

Kris Fassio Kladis ’70 St. Mary of the Wasatch is an alumna, past parent and volunteer.  Kris has continually proven to go above and beyond for the benefit of the school whether it is volunteering on special committees, attending and supporting the Gala or other activities or events at Judge.  She is always ready to support and assist programs that will make Judge a better place for our students.

Cynthia Proctor ‘71 has been the executive director at several non-profits in SLC. She currently is Clinical Mental Health Counselor at TURN Community Services which offers quality service to people with disabilities. She's a champion in the non-profit world.

Linda M. Kunzweiler ‘72 was recruited into AT&T's first senior executive program for women after graduation from Drake University in 1976. She founded Knowledge Equity Partners, Inc. on September 11, 2001, a business process digitization firm focused on critical infrastructure and disaster recovery. The leadership and teamwork skills Linda learned at St. Mary's as Sophomore Class President and at Judge underscored the importance of life long respect for the individual, compassion and care for others in professional and community volunteer efforts at Judge and in Denver, Colorado.

Claudia Kudrick Conger-Terrill ‘73 is the owner and broker of RED Real Estate in Dillan, Montana. She is also a writer and rodeo team roper.

The Honorable Carolyn Baldwin McHugh '75 was nominated to the United States Circuit Judge in 2013 and after being unanimously approved by the Senate she was appointed by President Barack Obama.

Stephanie Slama Poulsen ’75 is the Vice President of Global Marketing at Merit Medical.

Cherie Westover ‘77 is a vice president at Altabank where she has worked for 17 years. She has one son, Nicholas Mautner '02 and four stepdaughters. She is married to Gerry Butler and they will celebrate 25 years together next year.

Dr. JoAnn Slama Lighty ’78 is the Dean of the College of Engineering at Boise State University. Before joining Boise State, she was an engineering professor at the University of Utah for 23 years.

The Honorable Renee Jimenez ’82 was appointed a Juvenile Court Judge in 2013 by Governor Gary Herbert. She received an undergraduate degree from the University of Utah in 1988 and a law degree from the University of Utah College of Law in 1991.

Louise Pezel Hendrickson ’83 is currently the Vice Principal at Judge Memorial.  Prior to being VP, Louise was the Dean of Students at Judge Memorial.  She has over 25 years of service with the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City and received the Maurine Hamilton Award for Outstanding Graduate Women from Creighton University.

Gia Pignanelli Dowling ‘86 is Vice President of People and Culture at Nicholas and Company.

Michele Higham Wolf Psy.D. '86 is the owner and Clinical Director of Wolf Psychological Services in Ypilanti, Michigan.

Nicole Hawkins Ph.D. ‘89 is CEO and Director of Clinical Services at the Center for Change, an eating disorders treatment center.

Carey Pearce Pellock ‘89 is the EVP and Chief Human Resources Officer at Neustar, Inc. in Sterling, Virginia. She received a BS in business administration and an MBA in HR management from Strayer University in Washington D.C..

Deborah Rogozinski ‘89 is a science teacher at the Overseas Family School in Singapore. She did her undergraduate studies at Flinders University in South Australia, and her postgraduate studies at the University of Western Australia in Perth. She moved to Singapore in 1997.

Denise LeBeau Bois '91 is Global Senior Sales Executive & Strategy Manager for Microsoft where she has worked for over 13 years.

Kristin Varner ‘91 recently released her debut middle grade graphic novel, Horse Trouble in October with First Second Books. She is an author/illustrator and currently lives on Bainbridge Island in Washington with her husband and daughter.

Corinne Cook Fond ‘95 is a senior portfolio manager for Laurel Wealth Advisors in Boston, MA.

Jennifer Flannagan ‘97 is a Senior Manager of Health Systems Integration with NASTAD (National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors) in Washington, D.C..

Lisa Remington ‘97 has produced over two dozen documentaries featured on Netflix, HBO, PBS and the Sundance Film Festival. Two of the documentaries received Sundance Grand Jury Prize nominations. She is a Sundance Institute Documentary Fellow and has a BFA in Theater from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Marcie Young Cancio ’98 is a veteran newspaper reporter, magazine editor and digital and television news executive.  She spent nearly two decades in Washington, D.C., New York, North Carolina and California, primarily working in newsrooms and received an Emmy for television breaking news. She founded Amplify Utah in 2020 to increase diversity in local media, develop news readers through media literacy education and amplify underrepresented voices.

Nicole Salazar-Hall ‘98 is a shareholder with Parsons Behle & Latimer and was appointed by Salt Lake City Mayor Mendenhall to serve as a Core Commissioner on the Salt Lake City Racial Equity in Policing Commission in July 2020.

Tracy Jonas Fike ‘99 is the Assistant Principal at Park City High School in Utah.

Tricia Holt Shaw '99 is Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions at Evercore Investment.

Ashley Margaret Arthur ’01 is the Formulation Section Chief for the Office of Response and Recovery for FEMA in Washington D.C..

Kim Constantinesco '01 is the Director of Content at a NYC-based digital health company. She's also a children's author, competitive snowboarder, and recent non-directed kidney donor.

Rosalba Dominguez '01 was elected to the Murray City Council in 2019. Noting she is a lifelong Murray resident, community advocate and urban gardener, Dominguez thanked her campaign supporters, writing "We Made Herstory!!!"

Danielle Ypiña Gangadeen ‘01 is one of the first to join Space Force from serving in the U.S. Air Force for over 19 years.

The Honorable Melanie Houston '01 is a municipal court judge for the City of Fort Worth, Texas and formerly held the position of city prosecutor. She seeks justice and fairness for all those she serves, and is selfless and compassionate toward her colleagues as well as her friends and family. Melanie is a great example to future generations of women who graduate from Judge that hard work, determination and a great attitude can take you many great places in life.

Talia Hristou Monroe '01 was a lifelong Catholic school student. She began her education at St. Vincent’s and went onto Judge where she was a four year varsity basketball player. Talia attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon where she was a four year starter for their women’s basketball team. After graduating, she began working for PepsiCo. For the past 12 years Talia has moved up the ranks to become the Senior Vice President of Sales in Atlanta for FritoLay. She was highlighted with nine of her female peers for International Women’s Day to be the “Faces of Change - Women in Leadership.”

LaShell Wright-Hopkins Robinson ’01 is the Clinical Operations Lead of Diversity and Inclusion in Clinical Trials at The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson.

Kathleen 'Kat' Skiles '03, CEO and Video Producer of Narrative Creative Agency, was featured in Fortune Magazine's 40 Under 40 for her work in political videos and digital strategies.

Allison "Alli" Weis '04 received her Ph.D. at the University of California Davis and is currently a microbiology postdoctoral fellow at the University of Utah School of Medicine.  She was featured in the Salt Lake Tribune editorial  “Allison Weis:  The COVID-19 vaccines might feel rushed, but they aren’t.”  Alli is involved with STEM, LGBT community, and is an outdoor enthusiast.

Kristina Struthwolf-Leato ‘06 took first place in the 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Adult Nationals Championship where she scored 73.65 with second place being 57.21. This was her first competition since her son was born in January 2018.

Whitney Wolfe Herd '07 became the world's youngest self-made billionaire woman in 2021 with the IPO of her company Bumble, an online dating app where women can make the first move that she launched in 2014. She was featured in Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2017.

Kamauri Yeh ‘07 is the Global Women’s Creative Director for Nike Sportwear in Portland, Oregon.

Annie Cheung ’08 was featured in Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2018 for being the co-founder of Noon Home which aims to bring smart, layered lighting through technology that customizes lighting to every fixture, bulb, room size and activity to help eliminate headaches and stress. She worked at Cisco as a product manager and as a General Assembly instructor in Hong Kong before founding Noon with former executives from Nest and August.

Lindsay Baker Howse ‘08 is an optometrist with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs in Salt Lake City.

Claire Lordon ’08 is an illustrator and designer of several children's books, surface designs, maps, and murals. She works with companies such as The New Yorker, Candlewick Publishing, and Sterling Publishing. She earned her BFA in illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Maddie Rice ’10 is an accomplished guitarist who currently plays with the Saturday Night Live Band. She also performed several years with the house band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Jon Batiste's Stay Human.
