As society continues to adjust to COVID precautions, we will have clarifications of how we plan to best keep our graduates, faculty, family and friends safe as we get closer to our celebrations.

Baccalaureate:

This is a mass at the Cathedral of the Madeleine that is meant to represent the close community of the Class of 2022 one last time before they move forward in their lives.

  1. This year, the procession of faculty and students will begin promptly at 6:45pm at the request of Bishop Solis, who will preside over this mass.

  2. Mass will be simulcast so that people not in the building can partake in mass.

Other FAQs:

Senior contracts, college declarations, and scholarships: Contracts will be sent out as an online form via email to parents by the Counseling Office and will be due by Monday, May 2, 2022. Additionally, students receive physical forms to record their college declarations and confirmation of scholarships. These forms are to be submitted to the Registrar, Mrs. Scholl, in the Counseling Office no later than May 2nd. If you do not receive these, please contact Mrs. Scholl at jscholl@judgememorial.com

Attire: although students will be wearing gowns, students are expected to wear dress up clothing for both graduation events. Shorts, jeans, sweats, and other casual attire are not permitted for graduates.

  1. All national and cultural traditions are respected and appreciated in our school community. To honor our long tradition here at Judge Memorial, graduates are asked to wear the cap and gown without adornment during either ceremony(e.g. no leis, flowers, boutonnières, academic medals, etc.).These can certainly be worn once the ceremonies are over.

  2. We will be on the football field for commencement. Please keep this in mind when purchasing or deciding on shoes and avoid spiked heels.

ALL PRACTICES ARE REQUIRED There are 3 practices — 2 during the week of graduation and 1 before our last ceremony. Therefore every senior should be available and present for practice.

Etiquette guidelines for the Cathedral of the Madeleine for those not Catholic:

The annual Baccalaureate Mass is a beautiful liturgical ceremony, con-celebrated by diocesan administrators, monsignors, priests, and deacons. The mass is offered in thanksgiving for the blessings God has bestowed upon our graduates and their families. As a matter of respect for this solemn Catholic liturgy, please arrive on time, be quiet and respectful, and follow along utilizing the program distributed upon arrival. As you are comfortable, sit, stand, or kneel at the appropriate times, and sing along and respond to prayers. Please note the ceremony begins at 6:45pm.

Photography:

The Cathedral’s policy requests that parents respect the Mass and refrain from taking photos during the service itself. Photos may be taken as graduates enter and depart the ceremony, and during the awards part of the ceremony. Both ceremonies will be simulcast. At Commencement, parents are free to take photos at any time. We will also have a professional photographer at this event. Check back here for a link to individual graduate photos for purchase.

Congratulations to the Class of 2022!
